Come have good time and experience some theater magic at our Summer Stars Camp this summer at The Playhouse! We offer a variety of classes that give children a chance to play, learn, and express themselves using the theater arts.

Summer Stars: Masks, Mime, and Music
Ages 4-5
July 9-13, 2012
Monday-Friday, 1:00pm-4:00pm
Cost: $120/student
This camp will explore acting without the use of your voice. Combining the art of mask making, telling a story through pantomime, and creative movement to music, students will showcase their ability to play a character in a story without using their voices. A great imagination is required for this exciting camp! On the final day students will showcase their work for family and friends.
Summer Stars Performing Arts Camp

Be a star this summer and come to our Summer Stars at Sunset Camp. Each class meets Monday through Friday for two weeks. Take one, two, three, or four classes to fill your summer days between 9:00 – 3:15. There will be a performance on the morning of Saturday July 28 followed by a camp BBQ potluck so mark your calendars. Specific performance schedule will be determined after registration closes. min/max for each class is 6/15 – so register now! All campers will receive a camp t-shirt and a permanent smile on their face.

Summer Camp Class Descriptions
Action! Act!
Students will develop ideas for their own commercials, creating their own original product to sell. Using only the kids' ideas, the instructor will put their work into a commercial script. Students will then perform their commercials live.
Comedy Sketch Writing
Work out your comic timing and lose yourself laughing! This course will teach you to develop and write comedic sketches. Theatre games, improvisation and a variety of writing exercises will allow students to explore the role of the writer in theatre. The class will culminate in a presentation of a staged reading of each student's sketch.
Creative Dramatics
Children's poetry and folk tales will serve as the basis of this energetic acting class. Through the use of creativity, improvisation, dialogue, and movement exercises, young actors will learn how to bring the written page to life on stage. Each exciting class will build confidence as students learn acting basics
Incredible Improv
This class is designed to build confidence and foster creative thinking through the art of improvisation. Theatre games and exercises will be used to help encourage each student's creative and listening skills
Make a Scene
This fun format introduces students to warm-ups, stage direction, theatre etiquette, character analysis, scene work and more. Students will work as an ensemble to perform a scene from a play.
Masks, Mime, and Music
This course will explore acting without the use of your voice. Musical Theatre
Have you always wanted to tour on Broadway? Learn basic jazz technique so you can sing and dance to your favorite Broadway tunes! Students will learn songs and choreography to popular Broadway musicals.
Once Upon A Time
This class is designed to ignite the playwright and actors in us all. Students will create their own characters and then rehearse an original skit complete will dialogue, costumes, and props to perform for family and friends.
