The Playhouse has just obtained the rights to this delicious show full of superb tunes and great laughs, and can't wait to tackle this winter tickler!
GUYS ON ICE was created by James Kaplan (music) and the late Fred Alley (book and lyrics) for American Folklore Theatre in 1998. The show made its debut with a sold out run and has been making audiences happy ever since. The Playhouse is thrilled to be the first community theatre in the area to be granted performance rights to GUYS ON ICE.
The Playhouse is doubly excited to welcome composer James Kaplan as music director for our production. Bryce Lord, a Playhouse veteran director and busy local actor/director, will direct this production.
THE (FISH) TALE: Lloyd is having some problems at home. Marvin thinks he's a legend on the ice, and is waiting for his shot at cable television fame. Ernie the Moocher is just looking for some spare jerky and beer. Bring these fellas and some great songs together on the frigid Green Bay ice, and you’ve got reason enough to leave the house even if it's Packer Sunday! Playhouse audiences will understand the many charms of this fabulous show when it hits the Furlan Auditorium and songs like "Ode to a Snowmobile Suit", "Fish Is the Miracle Food", and "The Beer in the Bucket" warm the chilliest of nights.
GUYS ON ICE replaces WHAT ABOUT LUV? in The Playhouse's 2010-2011 Season lineup. All previously purchased tickets for WHAT ABOUT LUV? will be honored for GUYS ON ICE. Subscribers may also purchase additional tickets to GUYS ON ICE at a special reduced subscriber rate by calling the Sunset Playhouse Box Office at 262-782-4430.
