“You’ll shoot your eye out!” That’s all that young Ralphie hears when he makes his Christmas wishes known to Santa by putting an official Red Ryder BB gun on the top of the list. This stage adaptation of one of the most beloved Christmas films of all timeis a joyful celebration of growing up in the Midwest that the whole family will love. This year, the light of Christmas will shine brightly from a lamp shaped like a woman’s leg in fishnet stockings!

christmas story

way better than i expected. we had family of 16 attend ages 6 thru 73. everyone came away happy.

Christmas story

It was awesome! Great job to the whole cast!

FATHER CHUCK

FATHER CHUCK IS A VERY VERY GOOD ACTOR!! HE IS AN EVEN BETTER HUMAN BEING!! TON & ROSE

A Christmas Story

Excellent job by everyone. The Wicked Witch and Flying Monkey scene was my favorite. The old man did an amazing job with his fits of rage. The boy who was casted as Scott was a great look a like. I would have liked to have heard less of the the entire "Red Rider" product description, it seemed to become too redundant. Old Ralph did a great job of narrating the story, maybe a bit too rushed in spots but over all great. I did feel as though the play had come off as a melodrama, not sure if that was the intent. It is difficult to take an iconic movie with defined characters that everyone knows and make it your own. Thanks, Great ob and Merry Christmas!

Christmas Story- Dec 21

We loved the show. It's my wife's favorite Christmas movie. However it was very cold in the theater and I heard a lot of people complaining about there being no heat. This made it hard to pay attention as much because of how cold it was. Other than that it was a great night. Thanks!

A Christmas Story

Thank you, it was what we needed to help us with our christmas spirt

HEAT

The play was very good. The room was so cold it mad it hard to enjoy the play. I sat with my wool coat and gloves on the whole play and was still cold. I had to buy coffee at intermission just to try and warm up. This made the play hard to enjoy.

A Christmas Story

Saw a Christmas Story last night. First time at the Sunset Playhouse. Great performance, cat was great. I love this story. We'll be back.

Play

Was absolutely delightful. All the actors did a superb job and Ralph's performance - excellent. Brought our teenage grandchildren to the play (11, 13, 14 & 15.) and they really enjoyed it. We talked about the set design, production and how it followed the story line. They were also impressed by this performance.

soft voices could use a microphone

Consider having the children use a small microphone. It would help the audience hear them better.

My whole staff enjoyed it!

My staff and I are mostly 30 somethings. We loved this play alot. We went as part of our staff Christmas Party! We really thought the Narrator was great as well as the Old Man!

The Christmas Story

It was a delightful play and all the actors were wonderful. My favorite was Charles Hanel as he is my pastor. Good Stuff.

A Christmas Story

I loved the narrator, whose expressions were captured so well by your camera crew. Ralphie's dad was great and his mother, too. Our group had a wonderful time watching the show, since none of us had seen it in a long time. The tongue on the flad pole tickled us, too. Brought back memories of a simple life when I was a kid.

Loved the play!

Wanted to do something for the holidays - A Christmas Story was perfect! Loved the kids clothes and they looked like the characters in the movie. The narrator was great! Everyone did excellent!

christmas story

the strongest performer was the narrator, outstanding job, weakest was Ralphie, played by Liam Flatlie performance was just OK.Overall good, fun show

a christmas story

We loved it. Thought the narrator Ralph was the best character. We couldn't always catch what the kids were saying. Also we missed seeing the part where they eat in the Chinese restaurant, which is the funniest part of the movie.

A Christmas Story

Once again, Sunset Playhouse delivers straight from the heart, fun and laughter!! This time the play brings to life the ever popular TV movie hit, A Christmas Story. From the phenomenal side kick narrator to the classroom bully the performances are top notch! The cast pulls at our heart strings as they gently take us back to "yesteryear" where your mom wrapped you in layers upon layers to walk the 5 blocks to school on those cold Midwest mornings and a treat was piling into the dad's "new" used Buick to pick out the Christmas tree!! Come laugh at/with Ralphie as he connives his way in to receiving the best Christmas present ever.... If he just "doesn't shoot his eye out with that thing!"

A Christmas Story

This was a really good bunch of actors - the parents were entirely believable - and it seemed to help knowing they are actually married in real life. Perfect casting. The kids were great too. I especially liked the one neighbor kid with the long hat - he seemed like a natural actor - very entertaining. And the narrator was really good too! Go see it - it's a good one...

Acting!

As usual a fine production at Sunset, with capable acting by the parents, especially and kids and associated cast. However the shining star of the evening was Chuck Hanel whose *masterful* performance would have been great on any stage, in any company, and we have seen a lot! A great spirit lifter, and wonderful for Gene Shepherd fans (and Red Ryder owners!)!

Great show for the family! The cast did an excellent job!! Highly recommened this play for the entire family!!!

Chirstmas Story

The show was just delightful. A great way to start the Chirstmas season. Awesome job!

Capturing the story

A Christmas Story movie has always been one of my favorite holiday movies and I was quite impressed how the play not only captured the movie, but captured those of us sitting in the seats watching. I enjoyed everything about the play. I thought the players portrayed the actors in the movie very well, the play was uplifting and fun and the audience got it. The audience laughed at the comical scenes and as the movie does, it brought me back to a different time, when I was a child. I was born in the 60s but I can relate to the family time togetherness that we often are too busy to have this day and age, especially the mealtime. I brought with me my two grown sons who have seen the movie many times and they too enjoyed the play. I am grateful to all who worked together to make the presentation happen because they did a marvelous job. My husband passed away in August of this year and this play, this two hour play raised my spirits, helped me to get out of my pain for a while and helped me to laugh. Thank you.

A Christmas Story

Thoroughly enjoyed this, with my hubby and 8 year old grandson! Actors were great, and we loved the way it was done, kind of a narrative setting. I saw a brief scene on channel 6 on Wed(?) and was sold!!

A Christmas Story

Only decided to attend upon seeing Fr. Chuck was in it. We were not disappointed; again, he did an outstanding job with his acting, facial expressions and voice fluctuations. Enjoyed the whole show!

The Christmas Story.

Excellent acting for the whole cast. Even though I have seen the movie several times, I extremely enjoyed the play.

A Christmas Story

I thought you rendition of the Christmas Story was very well done. One of the best I have seen. The adult Ralph was superb! You could actually see him as a youngster in the part. A job well done.

Liked the movie. Reminded me of life when I was little.

I thought the narrator did an amazing job. All those lines that he had to remember. Kudoos to him.

A Christmas Story

My wife and I went to Sunset Playhouse for the first time to see A Christmas Story and we absolutely loved it. The staff of volunteers was wonderful and very helpful. There's not a bad seat in the house. The actors did a wonderful job. We will definitely be going back for other performances and I may even audition at some point.

A Christmas Story

What a wonderful performance by all! I was absolutely amazed by the adult Ralphie doing the narration.....so much to memorize and he made it look so easy. The entire cast did a great job and I loved having children in it for a change. This was a great way to relive some of the things from our own childhood and so nice to start the holiday season. Thanks to everyone for a wonderul Sunday afternoon!

A Christmas Story

I really enjoyed this play. My daughter came along and liked it too. We would have like to have seen more scenery changes, but otherwise the actors were great! I especially liked the actor who played Ralphie's Father. He was hilarious!

The Christmas Story

We loved it. The acting was great by all characters. We especially enjoyed the narrator, as he had such a major role and did such a good job. Another thing we appreciated is the extensive set design and authentic components. A very enjoyable experience in all.

A Christmas Story

Absolutely delightful. Everyone in the cast did a wonderful job. Enjoyed the play more than the movie.

A Christmas Story

We saw A Christmas Story on opening night. The cast of youth and adults were believable. "Adult Ralphie" fondly recollected his youth with passion in his voice. Mr. Parker and Mrs. Parker were hilarious with their version of the Electric Sex leg lamp. We would have liked to " hear" the clanking of the lug nuts in the hubcap during the play rather than using our imagination. Two thumbs up from Jackson, WI.
