Ashley Levells

Ashley Levells is currently playing the role of Miss Deloris Van Cartier / Sr. Mary Clarence in the Milwaukee community theater premier of SISTER ACT at Sunset Playhouse which runs Oct. 12 – Nov. 5th.

  1. When did you first become involved at Sunset Playhouse and what areas have you been involved with here at the Playhouse?

My first production in the Sunset playhouse was in the summer of 2009. I have performed in many, many shows with the Playhouse since then and have had the privilege of working with some extremely talented artists in my theatrical journey.

  1.  If you are working on a Sunset show right now, what is your role?

I am currently rehearsing (and soon to be premiering in) Sister Act – the Musical. In this FABULOUS production, I’m portraying Miss Deloris Van Cartier / Sr. Mary Clarence.

  1.  As an actor, what has been your favorite role to date and what is your dream role?

My favorite role to date has been Velma Kelly in CHICAGO. I would absolutely LOVE to play Sally Bowles in Cabaret.

  1.  What do you enjoy most about the Sunset?

The passion. Everyone works so incredibly hard to put on the best possible production they can. People with full time day jobs, night jobs and everything in between, spend every spare moment they have to ensure that the productions they’re a part of look as pristine and professional as anything you’ll see in the downtown theatre district.

  1.  When not at Sunset, how do you spend your time?

I’m a copywriter at Bon Ton Inc. (the corporate offices for Boston Store). I also love to dance, write (short stories and a novel that I’ve been working on for many, many, many years) spend time with my family and cook (and I’m actually getting pretty darn good at it. Anyone who has known me for 5+ years can vouch for how incredibly shocking that is).

  1.  What is your favorite color/food/movie/TV show/book/musical or play?

Well. Honestly. My current favorite book is the novel I’ve been working on. (I know. I know. Humble brag much? But, I speak the truth). The working title is Motown. At this rate, you can expect it in stores by the year 2072.

  1.  What is your favorite quote?

I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence. – Frederick Douglass
